BALAD AIR BASE, IRAQ

Back-to-School Supply Drive

As part of an ongoing community outreach program at Balad Air Force Base, Acuity employees initiated a school supply drive to support the local community and children around the base. More than half of the base’s employees are Iraqis, with many living with their families in the immediate surrounding area. School supplies were collected from employees returning from R&R and financial donations were made to purchase additional supplies locally. More than 400 backpacks filled with supplies were distributed to local children.

AL GARRAF, IRAQ

Turning Back the Tide

Flooding in the Al Garraf area of Iraq caused substantial water damage to classrooms at the local school. Responding to a plea for assistance, employees from Acuity’s Risk Management team donated a portable cabin to the school in Al Mutliej Village. The cabin, which is now being used as the main office and a classroom, helped restore a sense of normalcy for the more than 100 students who attend the school.
