Air and Marine Operations Center

The Air and Marine Operations Center (AMOC) at March Air Reserve Base in Riverside, California is an international, multi-domain (air, sea, and ground) federal law enforcement center under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Customs and Border Protection. AMOC detects, monitors, sorts,
tracks, and coordinates law enforcement response to suspect airborne and maritime activity at our nation’s borders.

Acuity provided cost engineering services during an AMOC expansion and renovation project. Acuity provided cost information during the week-long charrette and helped develop requirements concerning user activities, number of personnel, operations, floor layouts and room size, equipment, utilities, antiterrorism/force protection, and security. Acuity’s multi-disciplinary cost engineers used A-E architectural drawings and design analysis documents to perform detailed takeoff and estimate development at the 35% and 95% milestones. Estimates were compiled in Mii, an estimating software application developed by Acuity under contract and in cooperation with USACE. Acuity also participated in a value engineering study and worked with the design team to find options to reduce costs.

AMOC hosts personnel from throughout the DHS, other federal agencies, and international partners with complementary and interdependent missions. Acuity’s cost estimating services helped modernize and expand AMOC facilities, thus increasing its ability to provide rapid coordination of law enforcement and humanitarian activities throughout the United States.
